My daughter, Katelin, attends an amazing program in New Bedford during the summer at the Kennedy-Donovan School for disabled children. Today I participated in their annual fund-raiser, donating two books and selling others, with  part of the proceeds going to the school. The heat was oppressive, but the band was great and the raffle prizes were fantastic and I LOVED spending the day with Katelin. We danced a bit, laughed a lot and all the kids had a blast.

The kids painted seashells at my table (ties in with the mermaids in Grandma, Tell me If You Can) and Katelin colored. No one wanted to make spiders and it was just as well because the crayons MELTED in the heat! The school kids and teachers were joined by people from the community making it a true community event. Can’t wait for next year!
